Why AIxKM?
Why is it "AIxKM"?
It's AI times KM, or AI by KM for a simple reason - AI and KM have been two of the main planks of my career, that we are now bringing together for synergy.
The first decade of my career was focused on AI - in academic and commercial AI research, in two AI start-ups (one of which I was party to the sale of), and then in AI consulting, delivering AI training and solutions to clients in the government and private sectors.
My work in eliciting, modelling and automating human knowledge and decision making using AI led to a much broader interest in knowledge in a work setting. What followed was setting up Knowledge Management (KM) services at two consulting firms, advising clients on KM, and later moving to in-house KM roles, including leading KM in two different organisations.
Along the way I co-authored a book on AI; conducted research, authored papers and spoke at many conferences on KM; was a co-inventor of a Patent in KM and co-founded a business/academic KM forum that lasted over a decade.
The 'new AI' started to emerge into the market from around 2015, and broke through at the end of 2022 with the release of ChatGPT. More recently I've been training teams on how to use AI tools such as ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot, and how to embed them into their work processes.
Today I offer friendly, non-technical AI training so that end users can gain skills and confidence with AI; structured training and adoption pathways to help teams embed AI into their work processes; and leadership level AI advice and guidance.
I also offer a full range of KM services and solutions, based on my many years of experience.
AI and KM work well together. KM, with its broader range, including content, collaboration, community and culture, is a vital input to and wrap-around to make sure AI works well in practice. AI provides breakthrough technological solutions to many of the problems that dogged successful KM in previous years.
I work on a contract or fractional basis - offering flexibility and good value for clients.
